Factors that Influence Cost of Replacing Windows 

A number of things will influence the average cost of a replacement window. You want to think about the type of window you’ll be installing and what type of quality you’re expecting. You should also consider the material for the windows – do you want wood, vinyl or fiberglass? Each has their own benefits and variation in terms of cost.

With a wide price range of around $1800 for a bay window, and between $1000-$4500 for a bow window, these are the windows you might want to splurge on if you can. 

Casement & Awning Windows

Casement and awning windows are a terrific option if you live in a windy or rainy climate. They offer flexibility without sacrificing security when you want to open up your windows for maximum airflow, even in inclement weather. The 90° hinge on a casement window, and the awning style, both allow for ventilation, even on rainy days. Casement windows can run from $150-$1000, depending on size and material.

Additional Replacement Costs

Occasionally there will be additional costs of window replacements. Some factors that may come into play could include labor, necessary structural repairs, insulation and weatherproofing, as well as disposal and cleanup costs. 

Labor and Installation

If you’re hiring someone to install your new windows, of course there will be a cost associated with the labor and installation. There are two main types of window installation - pocket and full frame installations. Full frame takes longer and will typically cost a bit more. Also keep in mind that full frame window installation is generally going to need touchup work once the job is complete.
